At my employer, many employees come in to quickly print stickers or sleeves and most of them have no prior experience with the equipment or software.
As a result, i have designed an application in VB.Net primarily for my employer, which reads the status of certain printers, and assists users to choose the correct printer and material to prevent faulty labels, thus reducing costs.
The user can click an image showing the material they’d like to print, and the program will run the third-party software with the correct file and printer setting so the user does not have to look up the material numbers.
The operator can login to an internal dashboard to select the correct program file of the third-party software, and all files connected to the correct material.
Future updates that are planned includes an automatic update system, automatically reset the printer in case it returns an error and the possibility to add more material on-the-fly.
Further development on this application is currently on a lower priority as this is a spare-time project.
Here you can see a screenshot of the application i have created. For privacy and copyright purposes, i have removed the company logo and the logos on the pictures of the sleeves.

In the second screenshot of the settings, it is clearly visible the application has no decent design and a very user-friendly interface, but as this is a spare-time project functionality has the priority over design currently.
I will upgrade the application for other purposes (e.g. printer checking, choosing the paper and logo style for printing a company document) and when it is fully end-user friendly and working, i will make this available for purchase / licensing.

The application is tested on Windows and Linux (with WINE emulation) and found to be working correctly depending on the used third-party printing software.
In my spare time i enjoy designing applications intended to save time for employers and employees. Here you will find examples of what i am working on right now.
Update September, 2025: I have redesigned the application with an employer background and over 250 orders have been made using my application.
If possible (for privacy and copyright reasons) i will see if i can update the screenshots to the current design.
A project that i’d like to highlight here is my ordering system, i have designed a previous version for my employer with their design and have decided to create my own full new design and code.
This is still in development, so the images you see are mixed Dutch and English and some details are “off”.
Whenever i have time to do so, i will update the program and of course also the images on this website.

Some possibilities of my system:
+ Clickable buttons to place the item on the order list on-the-fly.
+ E-Mail functionality which generates a PDF and delivers the order to the correct employee to check and forward it.
+ Clickable part numbers which take the employee to the website of the supplier to make sure the right item was ordered. This is also available in the generated PDF.
+ Picture of the ordered part shows after clicking it, to further make sure the correct part has been ordered.
+ A settings menu (protectable by password if desired) to add employee names and projects which are also visible in the generated PDF.
+ Functionality to add products to the system so that it can be maintained without the need to alter the code internally.
+ A search-tool for the longer lists (e.g. wiring) to find the correct part without the need to scroll endlessly through the list.
+ Off-line detection, the order will be saved locally and the user can send it later when connectivity is restored.

When i have finished developing this system, i am interested in making this available for purchase.
